Project Overview
We are looking for a passionate and innovative Research Intern to join our team in exploring cutting-edge research in the field of bio-inspired/biomimetic actuators. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the design, simulation, and prototyping of novel actuators inspired by biological systems. The successful candidate will work closely with our research team, contributing to the development of next-generation soft robotic components aimed at enhancing adaptability, efficiency, and functionality in real-world applications.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and development of bio-inspired actuators using CAD software, focusing on innovative and biomimetic approaches.
- Conduct research and ideation sessions to generate novel actuator designs inspired by natural mechanisms and biological structures.
- Collaborate with the team to prototype and test actuator designs, contributing to the iterative process of design optimization.
- Support the development and integration of mechanical and electrical components to create functional prototypes.
- Participate in experimental validation and performance testing of designed actuators, documenting results and proposing improvements.
- Contribute to technical discussions, brainstorming sessions, and project meetings with the research team.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Biomedical Engineering, Design, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Fusion 360) and a strong understanding of design principles.
- Familiarity with prototyping and an interest in soft robotics or biomimetic systems.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills, creativity, and a keen interest in bio-inspired design.
- Basic knowledge of actuator mechanisms and material properties is an advantage but not required.
Interested applicants are invited to send in their full CV/resume, cover letter and portfolio of relevant design projects (if available). We regret that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
