Senior/Research Engineer (Optical imaging and Machine learning)
IRG_CAMP_2023_005
Project Overview
The Retinal Analytics via Machine Learning Aiding Physics (RAMP) is an Intra-Create grant hosted by the Campus for Research Excellence and Technological Enterprise (CREATE) and funded by the National Research Foundation (NRF). The principal investigators constitute an interdisciplinary group of ophthalmologists, biophysicists, bioengineers, data scientists and optical scientists working collaboratively, based at three Singapore research institutes: Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology (SMART), Singapore Eye Research Institute (SERI), the National University of Singapore (NUS) and the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR).
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be assisting a team of postdocs in using methods from dynamic speckle to analyze the movement of the retina under normal and abnormal intra-ocular pressure conditions. This will be combined with mechanical models of stress-strain and wear, and with fluidic models of blood perfusion and vascularization in the optic nerve head region. The candidate's duties will include optical system analysis; compatibility analysis with patient data previously collected in a human subject study; coding, preferably in Python or Julia; and assisting the senior team members, i.e. the postdocs and Principal Investigators with evaluation of the results.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or Engineering, or related disciplines
- 1-3 years of professional experience, which may include attendance of a post-graduate or doctoral programme
- Strong familiarity with optical physics and machine learning methods such as deep learning
- Good team player
