Her core cell belief

31 March 2017
Prof Van Vliet says that it's time to prioritise the manufacture of cells, given the many promising cell therapies on the horizon

With cell therapy gaining traction to fight illnesses and given that scientists now know how to grow cells in the laboratory, the research community should now look into scaling up the production of billion of cells - the number of a single patient would need for T-cell therapy for an example - to get ahead of the curve in the advanced cell manufacturing arena.

Prof Kystyn Van Vliet, SMART Lead Principal Investigator of BioSyM IRG, shares more in The Straits Times' ScienceFaces feature "Her core cell belief".
